Six months into our second decade of the 21st century, how are we doing?
Ted Kennedy was memorizlized by electing Scott Brown, yet Health Care Reform was passed and signed into law.
The Tea Party has seemed to fizzle out, though I am not sure that is the majority view just yet.
We saw a sorta, kind, halfhearted attempted terrorist attack in New York City.
We have seen a massive oil leak and resulting environmental calamity begin.
We have a new Supreme Court nominee.
We have seen economic uncertainty in Europe, with riots in Greece, flash market crashes on Wall Street, and a growing consensus that the worlds economic future is very uncertain.
Space spy planes. Facebook’s privacy controversy. A new Apple gizmo. Goldman Saches sued for fraud. A scandal with the Pope.
Might be to early to judge, but I don’t think we have collectively learned from our errors of the past decade… hopefully that doesn’t mean we are doomed to repeat it.
